Supporters of the Lawai International Center bring potted orchids for the altar area of the 88 Shrines. When they are finished flowering, the plants are collected and left in the sun. Every month or so volunteers place the orchids along the path, in the walls, and in the trees. Lawai Valley is a good place for orchids – lots of sunshine and rain. They seem to thrive here, blooming over and over. They bring their own special stillness.
